Where to eat in Pula?

Now that you are finally here, welcome, you literature dreamers! As letters alone cannot relieve hunger, we have a list of places where you can feed your literature exhausted bodies. If you love Istria's continental food, or you are still searching for nice homey meals that only grandmas know how to prepare, your destination is Tomaso tavern. Fuži (Istrian traditional pasta), gnocchi, pasutice (another traditional Istrian pasta), pljukanci (yet another), tripe, omelets, soups, and many more Istrian specialties will surely make you thirsty for some nice Istrian wine. If you are a real busy bee, and you don’t even have time for a stroll around Pula, but you like pizza, lasagnas, spaghetti, and other forms of pasta, we recommend you the Pompei, a pizzeria very near to the Fair. It is just across Dante’s Square, so you will have enough time to take a short break and have your ά la italiana meal. Buon appetito!

If you are fond of walking, or you have a car, climb south, towards Vidikovac. It would be really sad to leave this town without tasting some seafood specialties. Together with a regular restaurant menu, Biska offers a variety of fish specialties. This charming tavern will surely enchant you and make you return the next day, whether on wheels or on foot.

 

DVA FERALA (Kandlerova 31, tel. 223-365 )


If you are in search of the old Pula, hidden behind the bustle of modern urban life, Dva ferala is a place for you. With fresh fish and local wine, this tavern will bring you closer to the tastes and scents of a long -forgotten town. Enjoy the charms of a small fishermen’s village that Pula once was.

It is situated right on a beach, in Marina Veruda near Pula. When sitting in this restaurant, it will seem to you that you are cruising on some luxurious yacht, which also serves great food and wine! In quiet evenings, when the setting Sun paints the sea, only seagulls’ shrieks will remind you that this magic is for real. Here, words are truly unnecessary, but romantic sighs are more than welcome.

 

DOLCE VITA (Riva 2, tel. 219-229)


If you consider yourself a hedonist, this new restaurant is your option! It offers a wide range of fish and meat, homemade Istrian pasta (pljukanci and fuži), various salads and desserts. To spend time in a seaside town without tasting some seafood specialties is a mistake the locals wouldn’t forgive you. Those who want to taste fresh fish, shells, and other seafood meals, should under no circumstances skip this tavern. Its “hearth and home” atmosphere and friendly staff serve to underscore your gourmet pleasure.

 

RIBARSKA KOLIBA (Verudela 3, tel. 222-966)


Pleasant atmosphere of this ancient restaurant will help you leave your everyday troubles behind and enjoy the seafood delicacies prepared for you by its excellent chefs. It is situated right on the coast and it is very spacious, having eighty seats. With waves lapping, seagulls’ shrieking, and fishermen going fishing, your pleasure is more than guaranteed.

If your gourmet instincts ask for traditional Istrian food, but you feel most comfortable in interiors of contemporary design, Kantina should be your choice. This old/new town restaurant has already become a classic. With its ambience, food offer, and competent staff, it will make you forget about time and abandon yourself to small pleasures.

TAVERNA Hotel Histria (Verudela, tel. 590-720)


This year's central venue of extra programme activities and a place of informal gathering will be hotel Histria's tavern. Here you will meet most of the Fair’s participants; relaxed ambience and music will prompt you to join them in wine, food, or a midnight snack. Hotel's kitchen will stay open until 3am every night, serving delicious titbits, as well as its specialties. Here, you will surely be well informed!

 

RESTORAN DHB-a  /  KAVANA MOZART (Leharova 1)


A restaurant placed in the very heart of the Fair’s liveliest venue- DHB, more exactly in its cellar, right beneath the Fair’s bustle. It’s a self service restaurant that serves two cooked meals a day. If the Fair takes up too much of your time, DHB restaurant is the right place for you. We guarantee you quick but substantial meals in the very center of things. Here you will also find Mozart coffeehouse, where you can trade our coupon for a delicious sandwich.
